Happy belated New Year~!

I can't say 2012 was that great a year for me. I was struggling with a lot, fought some major inner demons/personal woes, dealt with an insane superstorm....

But this year? I am stronger. I am wiser. I am more resilient.

no more moping about, no more negativity. I have finally accepted my abilities and skills as an artist and as a person. Are they refined? No. Are they polished and professional level? No. Will they ever be? Who knows! But that unrefined, sketchy, off kilter style and "out of left field" humor is who I am. I can only be myself, I can't be anyone else, so trying to feverishly compare myself to others, scolding myself on "not being good enough", treating my abilities and downtime as "a job" and not something for myself is useless.

I am done with the negativity, I have fought my demons. I may have defeated them, I may not. But at the very least I have beaten them back; tails between their legs, and I will keep them back. It's high time I get serious with my art, writing, and self again. Give myself a real project to focus on. And most importantly? Have fun while doing it again. My ability and talent may not be "that great", but it's mine. No one can take it from me, and I should cherish it and work on it and have fun with it. It's my time to shine, and even if the world doesn't notice or care... I know damn well I have very important people in my life that do. And I love them for it and would never trade them for the world. ♥

2012 kicked my ass, so it's only fair I kick 2013's ass. Here's to a great year.

Oops. I should update this more frequently!

Sorry for not really being around, been a crazy couple months for me.

Yes, I live in New Jersey, specifically one of the more harder hit areas of New jersey when Superstorm Sandy steamrolled through. I am alright, we were without power for 6 days and only had a tree collapse in our driveway [missed the house, came down during the dumb nor'easter after Sandy. heh.] but it was pretty crazy! So many people I know lost their homes... ugh. ><;

While the storms were going on, my harddrive and monitor to my PC died, so I was without a PC for a while. I was using my Macbook as a backup until I got my PC back, yay for laptops and makeshift setups! Right now I am using my TV as a monitor until I can get a real monitor again. Everything is HUGE... so crazy... Also luckily got to save most of what was on my old HDD thanks to my awesome cousin, so I am very grateful for that!

Also I have been busy juggling college + work + personal issues [yay stress. Stress EVERYWHERE] which sadly has left little time for myself or my art, and I hate it. I miss drawing and writing and want to get back into it but never seem to have the energy, drive, or ability for it. Very Frustrating. May need to change things up... I feel I am overdue for change. We'll see. I AM almost done with OCC, hopefully that'll lead to something so I can get out of this retail hellhole and claim my soul back...

Got into Dark Souls as well thanks to and Steve/The Heartless' lets Play/Attempt Series. [link] Iam terrible at it. I die a lot. Often for very stupid reasons. Gravity is the TRUE evil in that game... Hahaha.

So remember how I said I was involved with a Silent Hill tribute project? Well it's officially released~! : [link]

It's currently a digital download, and you can name your own price [everything made is inspired by or paying tribute to the Silent Hill franchise] and the artbook is coupled with the music as a .pdf. It is also iPod/iPad/iPhone/Droid/Kindle friendly~! ♥

Despite this, I have lovely news: I have been selected as a contributor for a Silent Hill Tribute project being organized via tumblr~! [Primarily a large, fan collaborate works involving art, music, and writing all inspired by and reflecting the Silent Hill franchise!]

I have already submitted artwork to it, but am also busy planning on trying to submit more, hence me being so quiet on DA. I am so excited for this, Silent Hill is my absolute favorite franchise, and being involved in such a lovely project really means a lot to me. When I get the "all clear" I will show you all what I have been working on, but until then I gotta do my best to keep everything under wraps... haha.

Whelp. I officially have an art table for AnimeNEXT 2012! Huzzah! *cricket chirp*

At any rate, I plan on having more prints/stickers/window decals[?!] to sell this year, as well as emphasize sketch/line commissions. Also if I am not sitting directly next to her, I may also end up sharing my table with the lovely ! Much hilarity will ensue. Oh yes.

But right now I am working on a folklore/mythical beastie 5x7 postcard-print set. God willing they will be bookmarks too.

sorry for the lack of everything... college+work are kind of kicking my butt... yay?

Semester is alright, marketing class is interesting and frustrating at the same time... western civ is interesting and fun as hell. Then again I am a history geek so yay? Durhur...

But forget about that, it's convention prep time! I am hopefully getting a table at AnimeNEXT 2012 in Somorset, NJ... I r excite! Planning on making stickers, more bookmarks, magnets, window decals, maybe 5x7/8x10/11x17[!?] prints as well. Also commission work and stickers-on-demand if I can swing it. hehe... also i will get to hang with , , and . That will be glorious. Here's hoping I can get everything done in time... stupid work/college/lack of artistic-free time... urf.

Also managed to score a copy of Painter 12 for $90... which is hella affordable for art programs. It is wondrous and I am very happy with it. ♥

I am kind of doing this hot on the heels of doing her "30 characters in 30 days" challenge... only I am doing a different spin on it, because I am not that creative at the moment and I hate feeling like a rip off artist. What am I doing? Simple, my goal is Every Day in December I will take and draw sketch requests! Here is the breakdown:

I have been in a terrible art block/rut for a while and can't think of decent stuff to draw/doodle/sketch/what have you. However, I am sure all fo you can think up fun ideas for me to attempt to doodle, so send me requests! Characters, scenes, animals, stupid ridiculous crazy concepts that make no sense. I don't mind! [just keep things on the uh... "safe" side. Nothing too risque... ]

It is amazing.] and finally getting around to playing Red Dead Redemption [I am the dumbest, clumsiest John Marsten and I love every minute of it. ♥ ], I am fast realizing my intense love of Civil War era historical fiction/"Western" fiction is peaking an all time high again. So my inquiry is this:

I'm sure there are great graphic novels/comics out there set in this genre [Western/ Post/during civil War era Historical Fiction.] but I haven't the faintest clue what to look for or where to look! So, dear internets, hook a nerdy-girl up? What're some good western/historical/civil-warrish type comics out there? It can be super historical, drama, comedy, steampunk, paranormal... I don't care! So it seems my printer isn't as FUBAR'd as I thought... some tweaking has it back to almost-normal... even if it still hates the magnet sheets I bought to print and make magnets with. Oh well. Point is i don't have to shell out $90-100+ for a new printer, which is good. And while I still consider myself open and willing to do commissions, it seems no one is biting. yay crappy economy and me being a crappy artist no one likes o/. Dunno how to rectify it but oh well. :L

So I found out today my printer is pretty much FUBAR'd... [keeps putting ugly black lines on everything I print, despite me running diagnostics/recalibrating/realignments etc...] so I unfortunately need to invest in a new one. Replacement to the one I have is roughly $90 before shipping, however, given I am strapped for cash ATM I am going to open up simple $5 sketch/line art commissions to help earn some extra monies. Even if I end up earning half or even a third of my goal would be awesome. Sketches/line art are quick'n'easy for me to churn out, and I don't mind doing them one bit~!

It can be either digital or traditional, I don't mind. Fan art is accepted as well as original art. [with fan art I ask for reference material for accuracy.] All I ask is keep things reasonable [no derogatory or really nasty stuff] and I'll have no problem sketching it up for you!

For those that are curious: College semester winding down + super busy season at work = I have no free time and am slowly being driven insane. Hence the lack of art/photos/etc from me. Been too busy doing assignments and reading and working mah butt off! Hurhurr... And I did not get a table this year for AnimeNEXT, which both annoys me greatly but gives me relief from more stress and busywork. Oh well. When the semester's over I'll prolly go back and finish what I started and show y'all what I was planning on selling. haha. I would upload what I have but I doubt anyone wants an influx of sketches and doodles in their messages. D'oh.

At least my final assignment for children's lit will be awesome. may share it on here when it's done. Ohohoho~
